C.A.M.P. (Communicating And Managing Paperwork) Notebooks On Friday your child brought home an orange binder called their CAMP Notebook. Please help your child to develop the habit of showing you the CAMP Notebook each night. It is an important tool in communication between home and school as outlined below. What is a CAMP Notebook? It is a 3-ring binder notebook put together by your child’s teacher, which holds EVERYTHING needed to keep up with what is going on at school. No wrinkled papers in the bottom of the book bag. No lost notes, newsletters or calendars. Everything is in the notebook! Why is it important to have? This notebook helps children to develop good organizational skills. These skills will help them throughout their time in school. Please help your child to remember to bring the notebook back and forth each day. What is in the CAMP Notebook? The zipper pouch is labeled “Money and Flashcards”. Use this pouch to send in money for lunch, milk, book orders, etc. Later in the year, students will receive individual word sort cards for spelling. These flashcards will also be placed in the zipper pouch. The page protectors hold the Clock Partners and Poor Teacher’s Whiteboards. These are items we use in the classroom. The clock partners will help us to quickly find a partner for classroom activities. The Poor Teacher’s Whiteboard can have writing lines, grid paper, etc inserted into the sleeve. This allows students to practice handwriting, math skills, etc. without using a lot of paper. The first pocket of the notebook is labeled “Important Notes from School and Things to Return”. This is where children put notes from the office or a special note from their teacher. It is also where the parent would place any forms that need to be returned to school. The next section is for the Homework. If students have paper/pencil homework, it will be placed in this pocket for the student to complete and return the following day. The final section of the CAMP Notebook is a Super-Duper Work to Keep at Home Pocket. This is where I will send home papers that have been corrected or on display in the classroom. Remember much of our learning is through peer interaction and hands-on experiences. You will not get papers from school every day. Look for papers here once every week or two. |
