December 2010 Guest Teacher I hope that all of you have been able to enjoy some well deserved family time during the past week's holiday break.
I had surgery on November 23rd and have been recuperating at home. Unfortunately, I will need to be at home longer than i had originally planned. At this time, I anticipate being away from school until after Winter Break. My doctor and attest to the fact that I was not at all happy with this news. It seems even once I had been sedated, I gave him quite an earful for keeping me away from my classroom for so long. I have no recall of the incident, and maybe that is a good thing.
During my absence Ann Philipps will be the guest teacher. Ann taught in the Denver Community School System for 33 years before retiring in 2005. Retirement has not kept Ann away from education. She has continued to work as a guest teacher, and returned to the university to add an early childhood and with special education endorsement to her license. This attests to Ann;s determination to be a life-long learner. What a wonderful role model for our children. Even though I would much rather be with the children than at home, I feel confident that they are in very capable hands with Ms. Philipps.
Ms. Philips will not have access to the internet or the district email system while she is here. Please be sure that any communications you need to have with her are written and sent to school with your child. As always, you may contact the office and have them get a message to the classroom.
I will be in contact with Ms. Philipps throughout the month of December. You are always welcome to email me as well. I will not be checking as often as usual, but I will continue to monitor what is happening in the classroom. You and your children are never far from my thoughts. |
